Земля / Zemlia

Synopsis
Zemlia invites the audience into a world that seems primitive, shaped by war and its violence.this show, combining body and clay, is proposed as a call to plunge into the heart of the abyss, in a sensitive approach that goes beyond the limits of rationality. Here, meaning is not thought through facts, but experienced through bodies. It's a protest, a cry of revolt and alarm, a face-to-face confrontation with the destruction taking place in Ukraine and elsewhere, and an attempt at resilience. Zemlia's main character is a Ukrainian sculptor who has been living in France for over twenty years. Throughout the piece, the artist creates objects from clay: masks, body parts, architectural elements and everyday utensils... The sculptural gesture also gives rise to more abstract forms that question concepts such as love, motherhood, pain and rape in wartime. Using body language and voice, the other performers on stage interact with the clay sculptures. As they evolve, a human fresco takes shape in archaic fashion, and the audience is invited to create its own reading of the tableaux and landscapes of war unfolding before its eyes.
