Our story

The Sang-Gênes company was born in 2022 from the meeting of Margot and Mélodie, both trained at the Cours Florent in Paris in musical comedy and theater. Over the course of shared creations, an artistic and human bond was forged between them, giving rise to a common language and a deep desire to build a project that reflected their own personalities.

Sang-Gênes thus became a multi-disciplinary research and creative space, rooted in both Seine-Saint-Denis and Avignon.

Through this structure, they hope to explore personal themes, break free from traditional frameworks, and reach out to a wide, varied and as inclusive an audience as possible.

The artistic orientations of the company are nourished by the backgrounds of each of them:

Margot, involved in the medico-social field, in particular with disabled people, has the desire to create works that resonate with these experiences - whether in the themes tackled or in the sensitive and accessible forms proposed.

Mélodie, for her part, anchors her practice in the body: after a background in gymnastics, synchronized swimming and dance, followed by training in physical theater (Jacques Lecoq), she develops a theater of movement, where the body becomes a vehicle for emotions and stories, beyond words.

At the heart of their creative process: music. Singing was their first encounter, and remains central to their work. Each project gives voice, rhythm and harmony an essential place as a stage language in its own right. The company is closely linked to Minuit 47, a structure headed by Benjamin Lasar, also a graduate of the Cours Florent. He composed the soundscape for their first creation, La Bouche du Diable, and directed the polyphonic vocals.

Our company's creations are rooted in living, human and sensitive material. Each show is born of an exploration in the field: surveys, testimonies, observation of everyday gestures and intimate accounts.
